Dr. Ali Ferdowsi, a professor of political science and history at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California, immigrated to the United States from Iran several decades ago. Popular with his students, he has published widely, received grants from his own university as well as the Rockefeller Institute and others. He has also been guest lecturer at U.C. Berkeley and other institutions. In this interview, he explains that "Being Persian is a state of mind." Watch the video to see what this means!

Shahrzad Khorsandi, with both a BA and an MA in dance-related fields, is a professional dancer who has performed and taught all over the world. She is also the author of books and instructional videos. Trained in ballet, jazz dance, West African dance and others, her specialty is Persian dance. She is a native of Iran; she came to the United States as a child. In this episode, not only do we get to see her perform, but she also explains why and how to grow the mung bean sprouts that she brought with her to the interview.
